Introducing a dog to a home is always a big occasion and a momentous one at that. For that same reason, it is an occasion that should be properly prepared for.

Once you’ve decided on the breed of dog, and have even chosen a cute little pup or dog that you want to bring home, make sure that your family is ready for the new member. Delegate dog rearing responsibilities. One member of the family should always be in charge of feeding the dog. Don’t assume that once there’s a dog in the house your enthusiastic children will go ahead and feed the dog every single day. You don’t want to be in a position where there’s a lot of pointing of the fingers when the dog is sitting by his feeder with a mournful expression ion his face. Likewise, make sure another member of the family is responsible for his grooming, brushing and cleaning his fur, clipping his nails and so on.

Next up, stock up the house with dog friendly gear. You would need months to stuff your house wither every sort of dog product that’s out there, but at the very least your dog should have a

Dog Feeder

This one depends on the size of the dog. Buy a smaller one of you’re bringing home a small pup, and an elevated dog feeder if it’s a large dog.

Dog Bed

These are available in a variety of styles and sizes. Choose the size that’s appropriate for your size of dog. Orthopedic dog beds are ideally for these dogs that are old or have joint pains and other health concerns, but they are comfortable and provide great support, and so are suited to all dogs. In fact, if you’re splurging on your dog and you have a limited budget, splurge on things like his bed.

Water bowl

Dog collar

These can be plain and sturdy, or studded and fancy. A smart looking dog collar can make an unassuming and shy dog look confident and impressive.

Dog leash

Until your dog is socialized and even after, you should always have him on a leash when your out with him. A strong sturdy leash is a must.

Last but not least, get him some inexpensive but nice dog toys. There’s such an incredible variety of these to choose you’ll have no time stocking up on some cheap toy treats for him.

Now you’re all set, it’s time to get the dog home!
