It’s easy in all the flurry of the wedding to forget all about the gifts for the staunchest members of your wedding party – the bridesmaids or groomsmen. Presenting bridesmaids and groomsmen with gifts is just a way of letting them know how much you appreciate them for being there for you on your special day. Remember to budget in the gift buying when you draw up your wedding budget, to avoid being short of cash later. At any rate, this is one part of the wedding that you absolutely cannot skip – it’s tacky to do so.

For the bride, buying gifts for her bridesmaids can seem like the easiest thing in the world – there’s such a variety to choose from. Whatever you choose, make sure the gift receiver will like it - this is one area where your personality shouldn’t rule. The common practice is to have the same gift for all bridesmaids. Why not go a step further, and order separate gifts for each friend? It will show her you appreciate her much more than words can say!

Jewelry is always a safe choice – think delicate chains, bracelets, earrings etc. If the thought of buying expensive jewelry fills you with trepidation, check out discounts, or go online and hunt for bargains.

Monogrammed manicure kits, make up boxes, expensive bottles of perfume, toiletries, leather purses are always safe choices. Splurge on soft bathrobes in lovely pastel colors – your friends will love these! Or you could gift each bridesmaid a gift certificate to a spa salon to work off the stress of the wedding. Gift certificates to boutiques or a celebrity hair stylist will also get you praise for being a great friend!

Gifts for the groomsmen are another kettle of fish altogether. Guys love things that are functional, and don’t care too much about what it looks like. Business card holders made of pure leather, leather planners and wallets all monogrammed make perfect gifts.

Anything sports related is another safe bet. Golf accessories, gym bags, travel bags are always in style. On the other hand, if you don’t picture your buddy at a golf course, give the golf accessories a miss and go in for a beer mug instead.

The point is to buy something that will appeal to each friend. Keep in mind that your groomsmen will include your college friends, your gym buddies, soccer pals and colleagues – each of who will have their own unique personality, and need a gift to match!
